Like every year, the cultural association “In Piazza,” with the contribution of the City of Turi and the Region of Puglia, has organized the most anticipated event to celebrate the most beloved fruit of Apulia: the Ferrovia cherry. With its iconic heart shape and ruby red color, the Ferrovia cherry is distinguished from other varieties by its sweet and intense flavor, so much so that it has become one of the most beloved fruits of Apulia and beyond, as evidenced by the presence of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on the eve of the event.
The president was already in the Puglia region to participate in the forum organized by Bruno Vespa, “The Italy to Come,” and it was on this occasion that he received a delegation of Sagra organizers who gave the premier a selection of Ferrovia cherries from several local producers, including Giacovelli.
This 31st edition was highly anticipated given also the difficult environment for producers and farmers due to the bad weather in May that ruined most of the crops. That is why it was also an opportunity to promote the specific characteristics of the area and an opportunity for new business outlets and direct sales.
